As part of the Roundtable of heads of BRICS geological surveys, a meeting was held between the Russian party and a representative delegation from China to discuss prospects for joint cooperation.
The Chinese delegation was headed by Mr Xu Xueyi, Vice-President of the China Geological Survey. Pavel Khimchenko, Director General of the Karpinsky Institute, attended the meeting.
Special attention was paid during the negotiations to projects on mapping cross-border areas, regional geological studies of mineral resources, harmonisation of national classification systems for mineral resources, development of the community of experts and training of personnel.
The China Geological Survey noted the active participation of the Karpinsky Institute and the great work done in developing cooperation with the People's Republic of China within the framework of scientific interaction between the two countries.
Cooperation between the geological surveys of Russia and China opens up new opportunities for the exchange of experience and knowledge, as well as for the implementation of new projects in geology. This contributes to the strengthening of scientific relations and the development of the geological industry as a whole.
