Karpinsky Institute organised the first international Geological Quiz – GeoQuiz

The Karpinsky Institute organised the first international Geological Quiz – GeoQuiz. The event took place online and representatives from different countries were able to participate. The GeoQuiz was entirely in English as part of the online programme for the already open and operating Karpinsky Geological Classes.

The GeoQuiz was a test of the participants’ knowledge of geology, as well as their logic and quick wits. The organisers, young scientists and experts from the Karpinsky Institute, prepared more than 40 questions of varying complexity in the field of geology and geosciences. In total, more than 60 students and specialists from the Republic of Mozambique participated in the event. It is planned to organise a similar event for other countries where Karpinskiy Classes operate.

The aim of the event is to popularise the knowledge of geology, ecology and other geosciences, to create interest in geological education and to improve the status of geological professions.

It should be recalled that the Karpinsky Geological Classes are already successfully running in Cuba, Ghana, Ethiopia and Mozambique. In total, the Karpinsky Institute will open up to 20 classes around the world as part of the project to promote the Russian geological school abroad.

The unique educational project, Karpinsky Geological Classes, is aimed at creating an additional effective tool for scientific support of joint applied projects in geology and mineral management. The Karpinsky Geological Classes are regularly held both in person and online for geologists working in industry, students and anyone interested in geosciences.
