The project on stratigraphy and paleontology of the Karpinsky Institute received a grant from the Russian Science Foundation

Employees from the sector of the Interdepartmental Stratigraphic Committee and the Department of Stratigraphy and Paleontology of the Karpinsky Institute became winners of the Russian Science Foundation competition for conducting fundamental scientific research in small individual scientific groups.

The project they presented, “Cambrian conodonts from siliceous and siliceous-volcanogenic strata in the western part of the Central Asian fold belt: taxonomy, biostratigraphy, biogeography,” received support and will be implemented in 2024 – 2025.

The fundamental study of fossil faunal groups is of paramount importance for the dismemberment and correlation of the Phanerozoic sedimentary deposits and for expanding our knowledge of the geological epochs of the Earth’s past.

We congratulate the project leader, the Academic Secretary of the Karpinsky Institute, Tatiana Tolmacheva, as well as the entire team of authors and wish them further significant scientific results.
