Today, as part of the TASS press conference dedicated to the events of the environmental week of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress, First Deputy Director General Maksim Aleksandrovich Tkachenko talked about how the event will be held and who will take part in this milestone event.
It should be reminded that the First World Geology Championship is officially included in the programme of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress and is held under the auspices of UNESCO with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turbostroitel Judo Club. The event is organized by the Karpinsky Institute and the Government of St. Petersburg.
At the press conference Maksim Aleksandrovich noted that "Holding the First World Championship will once again confirm the status of St. Petersburg as the geological capital of our country. Students and young geologists from more than 20 countries from near and far abroad will take part in the event. We have prepared a very extensive competitive and cultural programme for the participants, including competitions in mineralogy, petrography, tectonics, paleontology, metallogeny, quaternary geology, mapping, geological routes and excursions. These will be very busy and intense days for all participants!"
The strongest teams will be awarded on May 22nd at the Tavrichesky Palace as part of the Nevsky International Ecological Congress.
