Today, 22 May 2025, a new chapter in the history of geology has been written in St. Petersburg, at the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress! Within the walls of the Tavrichesky Palace, where representatives of 76 countries and 17 international organizations gathered during the Congress, an award ceremony was held for the winners of the First World Geocup, an event that became a symbol of the unity of science and international cooperation.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP THAT MADE HISTORY
The first World Geocup has proven that the future of science is in good hands! The participants demonstrated an incredible level of preparation, deep knowledge and a real will to win. Throughout all stages of the competition they fought with dignity, solving the most difficult tasks - from analyzing geological samples to forecasting natural processes. Each test was a test of professionalism, and the struggle for leadership was an example of how science unites talents from all over the world.

Kirill Soloveychik - Chairman of the Committee for Nature Management, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety of St. Petersburg;
Mikhail Rakhlin - President of the Judo Federation of St. Petersburg and Turbostroitel Judo Club, Honored Coach of Russia;
Igor Muraev - Deputy Chairman of the Arkhangelsk Region Government;
Pavel Khimchenko - Director General of the Karpinsky Institute.

GEOFEST 2025
During the ceremony, Igor Muraev, Deputy Chairman of the Arkhangelsk Region Government, personally congratulated the Geocup winners and invited them to the large-scale event - geological festival Geofest-2025. The event will be held in the Arkhangelsk Region in September this year and promises to become a significant platform for experience exchange and development of geological cooperation.
THE COMPETITION PROGRAMME IS OVER - THE EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE CONTINUES!
After the ceremony, the participants, overflowing with emotions, took part in a workshop organized by the Karpinsky Institute specialists. They learnt how the innovative field documentation system Sherpa, a mobile solution developed by our experts, works. With Sherpa, geologists around the world can instantly record data and share results in real time. Science is getting closer and research is getting more efficient!
