In response to queries concerning conditions for the use of sets of geological maps posted in digital form on the Karpinsky Institute website, we provide the following information.
By virtue of Paragraph 1, Article 1259, of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, geological maps are the results of intellectual activity, which are subject to the provisions of the legislation on copyright protection.
Processing and reproduction of Karpinsky Institute materials posted on the website, the copyright holder of which is the Russian Federation, is allowed if the user observes the terms of use of intellectual property items stipulated by Articles 1229, 1259, 1273, 1276 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, as well as by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of 03.08.2012 N 793 "On the disposal of the exclusive right of the Russian Federation to the results of intellectual activity in geodesy and cartography" (integrally with the "Rules for the disposal of the exclusive right of the Russian Federation to the results of intellectual activity in geodesy and cartography").
Meanwhile, given that these maps are posted on an information resource with the most open access, ensuring the use of such information by an unlimited number of individuals and legal entities, the applied use of such information by enterprises of various industries to support their own activities is allowed, since it meets the goals of publishing geological maps.
