Karpinsky Institute entered into a cooperation agreement with the Presidential Library

In February 2024, the Karpinsky Institute entered into a bilateral cooperation agreement with the B.N. Yeltsin Presidential Library, providing for active cooperation in preserving and popularizing the historical, cultural, and scientific heritage of Russia.

As part of the cooperation, the Russian Geological Library of the Karpinsky Institute will transfer materials from the rare collection of books, including books and maps of the 18th century, to the Presidential Library for digitization. As a result, an array of electronic documents of geological content will be generated, which will be of interest not only to historians and experts in the field of geosciences, but also to a wide range of readers.

Today, the B.N. Yeltsin Presidential Library is one of the leading modern electronic libraries that provides access to information resources remotely using telecommunication technologies. The institution represents a nationwide electronic repository of digital copies of the most important documents on the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood, and the Russian language.

The accumulated experience in creating and maintaining electronic catalogues, digitizing, and storing electronic resources of the Presidential Library can be used as a reference model for the development of library networks. As part of the cooperation, experts from the Russian Geological Library will learn from the experience of their colleagues. As a result, the Karpinsky Institute will have its own electronic library, consisting of publications on the topics of earth sciences, including geology, paleontology, stratigraphy, etc.
