First everywhere! Let a dissertation council at the Karpinsky Institute be!

Despite the active international activities of our institute, the internal agenda – works, projects, and achievements – are an absolute priority!

After an almost 10-year break, the dissertation council resumes its work at the Karpinsky Institute. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation has issued a corresponding order.

This is both a significant event for the Institute as a whole, and an important link in strengthening the mineral resource security of our country and increasing the research potential of national geology. The resumption of the dissertation council activities is a contribution to the training of strategically important highly qualified personnel not only at the Karpinsky Institute, but throughout the entire geological sector.

The newly functioning dissertation council of the Karpinsky Institute is the only council in the field 1.6.10 “Geology and exploration of solid minerals, metallogeny” both in St. Petersburg and throughout the entire Northwestern Federal District. To achieve such an important goal, many Institute’s experts made significant efforts, including increasing the publication activity of the research personnel in the dissertation council.

The Karpinsky Institute has a long and glorious history of training highly qualified personnel. The first dissertation council on general and regional geology was created in 1939. Since the early 50s, two dissertation councils began to operate in four basic fields for the regional study of mineral resources. The councils existed until 2016, with a council on general and regional geology, paleontology and stratigraphy from 2012 to 2016.

Over time, the Karpinsky Institute plans to expand the number of dissertation councils.

We are proud of our institute – the flagship of national geology! Thanks to the recreated dissertation council, we will be able to bring training highly professional personnel for the development of national geology to a qualitatively new level!
