Our experts took part in a number of practical events in the People's Republic of China

At the end of their working visit to the People's Republic of China, our experts took part in a number of practical events, including a trip to the Koktoga UNESCO Global Geopark , located in the Altai district at the headwaters of the Irtysh River.

Remarkably, the Geopark exists on the site of a former rare earth mine. Today, this area is an amazing tourist zone with the highest level of infrastructure and services, safety and transport accessibility. And the factories and mines have become its unique attraction.

The Karpinsky Institute is actively involved in the development of a network of national geoparks in Russia, advises on joining UNESCO Global Geoparks Network and is working on the opening of a geopark in St Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. The visit to one of the best geoparks in China allowed our experts to get acquainted with the organisation of business processes, scientific and excursion geological activities of national geoparks in China.

In the course of the excursion, Institute’s experts also got acquainted with the Chinese analogue of our Sherpa – a system of field documentation on mobile devices – and took note of several useful functions that we will definitely add to our software in the near future.

Now we are waiting for our Chinese colleagues to make a return visit to continue our fruitful cooperation.
