By decision of the CIS Economic Council, the Karpinsky Institute is the basic organization of the CIS member states on exploration, use and protection of mineral resources. The presentation of Tatiana Zubova, Deputy Director General for Geological Exploration, was devoted to the results of activities of the basic organization over the past reporting year.
From the Karpinsky Institute, the meeting was also attended by Viktor Snezhko, Deputy Director General, and Olga Kovaleva, Assistant to Director General for International Projects.
The Intergovernmental Council highly appreciated the activities of the Institute in the status of the basic organization and supported all initiatives to develop cooperation, including:
• noted the successful implementation of the instructions of the 26th Session of the Intergovernmental Council to expand the cartographic resource “Geological 1M and 200K Maps of the Commonwealth States”;
• supported the initiative of the Russian side to hold the scientific and practical conference “Geology and Metallogeny of the Greater Altai” in 2025 in Gorno-Altaisk, Altai Republic;
• supported the initiative of the Russian side to create a joint Atlas with the working title “Unique Geosites of the CIS countries”;
• supported the development of the pilot project concerning exhibition activities Traveling Displays of Unique Minerals from Collections of CIS Museums.
During the session, the delegation of the Karpinsky Institute held a number of working meetings:
• with the State Institution of Uzbekistan “Institute of Mineral Resources”. During the meeting, the Uzbek side expressed interest in a course of lectures on uranium geology by experts from the Karpinsky Institute, as well as mastering the developed and implemented predictive methods of isotope-geochemical mapping, petrographic-geochemical study, the application of aero- and space-based hyperspectral data to identify forecast areas;
• with the Governmental Enterprise "Kyrgyzgeologia", the Kyrgyz Republic. At the meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed, defining a number of areas of joint activities.
