Karpinsky Geological Class Opened in the Kyrgyz Republic!

The Karpinsky Geological Class was officially opened at the M. M. Adyshev Institute of Geology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek. This important event is a new step in the development of cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan in geology and mineral management.

The event was organized by the All-Russian Geological Research Institute of A. P. Karpinsky with the support of the Federal Agency for Mineral Resources - Rosnedra and the GRANIT GROUP Holding.

This is the 5th Geological Class opened by the Karpinsky Institute in friendly countries. The opening of the Class is timed to coincide with the 27th Session of the CIS Intergovernmental Council for Exploration, Use, and Protection of Mineral Resources. In the coming year, the Kyrgyz Republic will chair the Intergovernmental Council, which will further promote cooperation in the field of geological education and training of personnel.

The Karpinsky Geological Classes are a unique international project aimed at developing joint projects in geology, mineral management and Earth sciences with friendly countries. The Karpinsky Institute is a representative of the classical St. Petersburg geological school, so it is not surprising that our experts are actively involved in this project, sharing their knowledge and experience with geologists from different countries.

The Geological Classes are already successfully operating in Ghana, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Cuba. Now their geography has expanded to Central Asia.

The opening of the Geological Classes is part of a large scientific and educational program to promote the Russian geological school abroad, which, in addition to the Karpinsky Classes, also includes such projects as Sambo in Granite and Time of Geology.

The opening ceremony was attended by Kanatbek Abdrakhmatov, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Aizek Bakirov, Acting Director of the M. M. Adyshev Institute of Geology, Apas Bakirov Academician, Honored Scientist of the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), the Karpinsky Institute, and the geological community of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Pavel Khimchenko, Director General of the Karpinsky Institute, addressed the guests with a welcoming speech, noting: “Karpinsky Geological Classes are one of the projects of our institute's major international program. Each class is special to us because we take a responsible approach to the curriculum. We are confident that the opened Geological Class will strengthen the existing friendly and intellectual ties between our countries, create a solid foundation for the development of geology and mineral management, and in the future, joint geological projects."

Lessons in geology in the Karpinsky's Class will be held regularly both in person and online.

The participants of the event became the first visitors to the geological exhibition exposition of the Class and the first listeners to lectures from leading geologists of the Karpinsky Institute. It should be noted that this is not the first interaction between our colleagues and specialists from the M.M. Adyshev Institute of Geology. Representatives of the Karpinsky Institute regularly have given lectures to Kyrgyz colleagues as part of bilateral cooperation.
