In the 2024 field season, the airborne geophysical team from the Norilsk Branch of the Karpinsky Institute performed the first stage of the 1: 50,000 scale aeromagnetic and aerogamma-spectrometric survey of the Khakyrchan-Olynjinsky area.
The Khakyrchan-Olynjinsky area is located in the Omsukchan and North Evensk districts of the Magadan Region, the Far Eastern Federal District. The nearest settlement with an airport for basing, the settlement of Omsukchan, was 105 km from the central site of the work area.
The team consisted of three specialists under the guidance of the party leader, Andrey Madzhara, 1st category geophysicist, the Norilsk branch of the Karpinsky Institute.
The work area covered more than 7,600 square kilometres and required 245 flight hours. The airborne survey was performed using the Eurocopter AS350B3e.
In addition to providing geophysical support for the regional 1:200,000 scale geological surveys, the team's tasks included geophysical assessment of the area's potential for various types of minerals.
After the field surveys, the team commenced desktop analysis, including the digital processing of material obtained separately by route and by regular network, bringing it to a single level for each component of the integrated survey, and the building of preliminary digital databases of airborne geophysical data.
The second stage of work in the north-eastern regions of the Far Eastern Federal District will be continued by the Norilsk Branch in 2025.
