The VI International Conference of Young Scientists and Experts was held at the Karpinsky Institute


We have already posted a short video about the first days of the conference, which took place from 12 to 15 November 2024. Now, watch a short video about the final of the event and feedback from the participants on our RuTube channel 

The conference was attended by more than 200 speakers and listeners from leading geological universities in Russia and the CIS countries, Institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, institutions subordinate to Rosnedra, and mineral managing companies. 

The winners of eight thematic sessions were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts, as well as certificates for internships at the Karpinsky Institute. 

Following the conference, first places in the sessions were awarded to: 

  • Regional geology, geodynamics, geochronology

  • Geophysical and remote sensing methods in geological study of mineral resources and environmental monitoring 

Elizaveta Serdyukova, Empress Catherine II  St. Petersburg Mining University

  • Geology, forecasting, and prospecting for solid mineral deposits 

Polina Leibgam, Central Research Institute of Geological Prospecting for Base and Precious Metals 

  • Environment of large cities and coastal areas of sea basins 

Roman Dyachkovsky, St. Petersburg State University 

  • Combustible minerals: geology, development, related resources 

Egor Kolesnikov, Empress Catherine II  St. Petersburg Mining University

  • The use of geoinformation technologies, import substitution, and artificial intelligence in geology

Andrey Karamyshev, All-Russian Geological Research Institute of A. P. Karpinsky

  • Quaternary geology

Daria Lobacheva, M.V. Lomonosov  Moscow State University

By special decision of the jury, two participants were awarded certificates for completing the practical lesson “Using Sherpa technology in ground-based geological survey.”

On the last day of the conference, thematic excursions to the Geological Research Museum, the Centre of Isotopic Research, and the Karpinsky Institute Cartographic Factory also took place. Numerous workshops and master classes on artificial intelligence, stratigraphy and paleontology, metal-bearing coals, geological information resources, web applications and others were held. Conference participants noted the high level of the event. 

We sincerely congratulate the winners and awardees of the event. The next VII Conference of Young Scientists and Experts in memory of Alexander Karpinsky will be held in 2026.
