The Karpinsky Institute team is the first in geology! Cooperation between Russia and Cuba reaches a new level!

As we wrote earlier at the end of 2023, the Karpinsky Institute started a number of projects in the Republic of Cuba. Thus, for the first time since 1988, full-fledged, systematic geological work with this country was resumed.

The first results have been obtained

1. In two years, a specialized metallogenic map of Cuba at a scale of 1:500:000 has been created. This is a huge work done by specialists of the Karpinsky Institute and representatives of the Institute of Geology and Paleontology of the Geological Service of Cuba (IGP-SGC). The map will make it possible to correctly manage the fund of mineral resources.

2. In a year and a half, a ‘Digital Twin of Cuba's Mineral Resources’ has been created - an open resource available to all scientists, containing generalized up-to-date geological information from all over the country.

3. Russian services for conducting field geological work in Spanish and Russian have been introduced into the work of the Geological Service of Cuba. The technology of field geological documentation on mobile devices developed by specialists of the Karpinskiy Institute will help Cuban geologists to significantly increase efficiency in conducting field work.

4. Regular events on modern information technologies have been implemented at the constantly functioning Karpinsky Geological Class in Havana.

Today Russia, as a big old friend has fully returned to Cuba, offered its techniques and, importantly, carefully incorporated its developments and services into joint geological work to replace Spanish, Canadian, Chinese, Mexican and German ones.
