On the eve of Geologist's Day, the Russian Geological Library opened a large-scale exhibition ‘Geological Dynasties of the Karpinsky Institute’!

The Geological Research Institute is not only departments, centers, laboratories and expeditions, but also people, their knowledge and experience. Within the walls of our institute, as in many scientific institutions, a unique phenomenon has developed - dynasties of scientists. For many years, entire families of geologists have been working at the Karpinsky Institute, where the scientific baton is passed from generation to generation.

Fathers passed on to their sons (and sometimes to their daughters!) the love for stone, passion for discoveries, deep understanding of the structure of our planet. It is these family ties intertwined with science that became the theme of our new unusual exhibition, which is dedicated to a special phenomenon in the history of Geolcom - TsNIGRI - VSEGEI - Karpinsky Institute - geological dynasties.

Among them are such dynasties as:

Alexander Ivanovich and Vladimir Alexandrovich Zhamoyda,

Nikolai Nikolayevich and Irina Nikolayevna Kurek,

Vasily Petrovich and Georgy Vasilievich Nehoroshev - representatives of a large geological clan of the Nehoroshevs - Nikiforovs - Krasnovs,

Natalia Nikolaevna Sarsadskikh and Alexander Aleksandrovich Kukharenko,

Boris Pavlovich, Alexander Pavlovich and Boris Aleksandrovich Markovsky

and other representatives of the glorious geological profession, who gave a lot of knowledge and effort to serve science and their homeland.
