X-RAY STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS
Main tasks solved by this method:
- determining the phase composition of rock and ore, cement clinker, ceramic material (raw material, ceramics, refractories);
- quality control of mineral raw material (ore, concentrates), cement clinker and mineral fertilizers;
- determining clay minerals and mineralogical composition of soils and clays;
- identifying the nature and concentration of impurities in minerals;
- revealing the nature of isomorphic substitutions, the nature of structural changes in minerals during their polymorphic transformations;
- determining new minerals;
- identification of precious stones;
- studying the deformation effect on the texture of polycrystalline materials and similar tasks in non-ferrous and ferrous metallurgy, materials science, mechanical engineering, cement, ceramic industry, radio engineering, chemistry, pharmacology, high-tech industries;
- analysis and refinement of substance structure by the Rietveld method;
- quantitative and semi-quantitative estimation of the phase composition of powdered samples.
Analyses are performed on the DRON-6 X-ray diffractometer (manufacturer - NPP Burevestnik, St. Petersburg). The diffractometer control, data collection and processing of measurement results are computerized.
