Picrites and komatiites (debatable issues of comparison and classification)

The article provides the answer to the criticism petrochemical classification ultramafic volcanites from Petrographic Code and attributing komatiites to structural variations of low-Ti picrites, as well as proposal for need for special selection of komatiites. It is shown that in Russia komatiites are historically considered as part of the family picrites. Provides sources of statistically proven data that show practical identity of the chemical composition of komatiites and low-Ti picrites. Indicates a possible future use for classification not only petrochemistry, but also the distribution of minor elements.
