Forecast maps for oil and gas forecast as part of the State Geological Maps of the Russian Federation

Data are given on the current state of knowledge in forecast mapping for oil and gas as part of the State Geological Maps at 1:1,000,000 scale (third generation), types and amount of geological information in the forecast maps for oil and gas, results of implementing the Program on compilation and preparation for publication of the Gosgeolkarta­1000/3 in connection with the results of seismic and drilling exploration maturity, petroleum potential assessment and licensing state of petroleum provinces in the Russian Federation. Recommendations are given for the use of geological and geophysical materials in the composition of oil and gas forecast maps and guidelines for mapping in poorly studied, but promising areas in Russian petroleum provinces.
