Yury Diodorovich Smirnov. To the 100th anniversary

Briefly described biography and the creative path of the researcher of geology and diamond content of the East European platform and the Urals Yu D. Smirnov (1917–1990). Its scientific heritage is analyzed and it is shown that Yu. D. Smirnov put forward and theoretically substantiated the idea of the high prospectivity of the East European platform for the discovery of diamonds unknown at that time.
