New data on hydrothermal metasomatism in the Cretaceous-Cenozoic sediments of the Middle Volga right bank
The paper describes the results of studying the hydrothermal processes in Cretaceous-Cenozoic sediments of the Saratov-Kamyshin Volga bank, on the Volga abrasion scarp and at its right-bank area. Three stages are distinguished in the development of hydrothermal systems of the evolutionary structure of the Volga right-bank area, namely Late Paleocene, Oligocene-Miocene and Neopleistocene-Holocene. The features of the substantial composition, and morphology of the corresponding hydrothermal-metasomatic alterations and the controlling wrench tectonics have been investigated. It is shown the relationship between the Neopleistocene-Holocene of hydrothermal systems and the seismodislocations developed at the scarp. The field observation results are validated by the mineralogical and laboratory sampling data obtained from the representative observation sites.
