Forms of chemical elements occurrence in the Upper Quaternary sediments of the eastern Gulf of Finland
Four lithostratigraphic units correlated with various stages of the Baltic Sea evolution during the Late Quaternary have been identified in the eastern Gulf of Finland. Forms of the chemical elements occurrence in these sediments are poorly studied. The geochemical specialization of sediments having different ages is characterized by a specific ratio between forms of the chemical elements occurrence. The most common forms of chemical elements occurrence in the sediments of all identified stages are poorly reactive and (hydr)oxide forms.
