While our specialists are on a working visit to the People's Republic of China, their colleagues came to visit us. Today, the Karpinsky Institute hosted a representative delegation from the Beijing Research Institute of Uranium Geology (BRIUG), which came to Russia on a working visit at the invitation of Rosatom and on the recommendation of the IAEA. The Chinese delegation was led by Li Ziying, Scientific Director of the Institute.
During the meeting, as always at our Institute, practical steps for further scientific cooperation between the two countries in uranium geology were discussed. Tatyana Zubova, Deputy Director General for Geological Exploration, and Yuri Mironov, Head of the Department of Uranium Deposits Geology and Radioecology presented the latest developments of the institute, as well as current projects in uranium geology.
Our Chinese colleagues also visited the Chernyshev Central Geological Research Museum and the Russian Geological Library, where Chinese colleagues were shown an exhibition of archival documents and materials about geological surveys carried out in China as part of Russian-Chinese cooperation.
Of particular interest was a visit to the Karpinsky Institute's Centre of Isotopic Research, where a new laser ablation system and atomic absorption spectrometry system have recently been installed.
